Story
My son was left with hemiplegia down the right side of his body after he developed a brain disease last year. This means that he currently has no use of his right arm and has severe muscle atrophy in his right leg.
We would like to travel to Michigan in the US where a neuroprosthetic company has developed a wearable device based on muscular electrical stimulation which is customised to each individual and is worn throughout the day, activating unused muscles. This will get his arm moving again and hopefully his fingers too and also help him walk properly without a limp due the muscle paralysis in his calf.
This therapy isn't available anywhere in the UK and is 10 times better than anything that is available here, hence why we need to go to the US. Samuel has been through so much in the last year and as parents we want to do anything to make life easier for him. The cost of the trip is expensive and obviously we are going to pay the majority, but lots have asked in the past whether they can do anything to help so if you would like to contribute any help towards the cost would be greatly appreciated.
