Georgia Dunn, 19, gave birth to Markus at just 25 week gestation on the 14/07/18 . Markus weighed just 805 grams. Nurses at the NICU Medway Maritime Hospital in Gillingham fought hard to save Markus’s life. When the odds were stacked against him he pulled through after spending 107 days in hospital. Markus was allowed home with his family. He was thriving and ready to start his life at home.

Just when the family started to settle into their new life at home a tragic event took place.

Markus suffered a cardiac arrest at 21 weeks old. Markus was rushed to PICU at St. Thomas hospital due to the higher level of care he requires. Once again Markus is fighting for his life. Scans show Markus has suffered brain damage as a result of the cardiac arrest.

Georgia is so grateful for the care and support received at the hospital where Markus will remain until further testing is done. Markus continues to show how brave and strong he is, he has started moving his arms and legs but has not yet woke up.

Markus and his family have a long way to go. Markus is going to require significant life long care and adapted equipment to give him the best quality of life.
