Story
Back in July our beautiful 5yr old granddaughter started to have siezures for no apparent reason. For her a parents and all of us this was a real worry and a horrible thing to witness. We were all on constant watch as there did not appear to be any apparent triggers. This lovely, bubbly little girl who is always smiling didn’t understand why people were so worried about her.The outcome of tests showed that Merryn had a 3cm tumour in her brain, as you can imagine we were all devastated at this news. The tumour was removed and found to be a rare aggresive form of cancer. Merryn is now haveing to undergo 12 months worth of treatment condensed into 6 months. Obviously this is putting huge pressure, worry and upset on both her amazing parents and of course her big sister. It involves large amounts of time spent traveling between home in Cornwall and Bristol so Merryn can get the treatment she requires at the Bristol childrens Hospital where she is recieving amazing care .There are times when they have to stay away from home for weeks due to the nature and timings of the treatment the Merryn is having. This fund raising page is primarily for raising funds to help support Merryn and her family in what ever way is needed and remaining funds will be split equally between charity‘s Cancer research, Macmillan and the neurology departments in both Derriford and the Bristol childrens hospital that have been so heavily involved in Merryn’s journey. Thanks to everyone for your contribution and support. You do not realise how much it means.

5 years agoWe are nearly at the end of chemo just 1 more session to go. Merryn has no hair or eyelashes but continues to smile and live out her dream to be a unicorn. We can not thank enough all the Medical staff and charity’s that have supported and continue to support Merryn and our family. It’s not until you are in the clutches of cancer that you become aware of the support network out there to help you through your journey. Merryns journey is far from over, but at least we have made it this far with her smiles still in tact. Thank you all.

5 years agoThe family are now home and reunited. Merryn is doing really well and it’s lovely to see her back in her own home playing with Eve. Merryn still needs to attend Bristols children’s hospital every 2 weeks for her chemo, she is up there at the moment due to be back on Saturday, but she can then come home and be amongst her family. Her feed tube has gone, mainly because she accidentally pulled it out..opps. They had a visit from the make a wish charity last weekend so I know that both girls are excited the outcome of the meeting. 🤞

I know it's only a small amount. But I hope it helps. I regard Stuart as a friend from him being my manager for over a year. So hopefully this helps out a little.

Merryn is my partners granddaughter, but she feels like my own. We are all such a close family and when something like this hits we all feel it. The response is always to help, support and comfort those you love. Merryn is such a special little girl who lights up everyone’s heart
