    Story

Ever since i was young and as far as i can remember as a child this kind lady has always been there for so many children.

Since the Chaucer infants days i used to walk the playground holding her hand skipping along singing with her, Sitting on her Knee in the school hall playing the piano with her to songs we used to sing in school Classes in the morning.

This kind Lady used to give up her time in school holidays to look after us children in the Chaucer Play Scheme. Many outings to white post farm she would round us up as we run riot, many outings to park and swimming baths as we all play and have fun.

I Remember when i asked miss Haywood to come to my birthday party at the Mc Donald s in Ilkeston sitting on the toad stools playing musical chairs with all us children making sure we are having a good time, Eating a cheeseburger and a milkshake with her bright coloured hair I have never known a teacher to go above and beyond like this.

All though my time as a Beaver, Cub & Scout at St Andrews church Ilkeston Miss Haywood was always there in some way. Helping us out, giving her time to help the church, reading to children, Arranging flowers in the church.Even the odd occasion we both used to play in the service with me on the organ and miss Haywood on the Piano.

For a large part of my life Miss Haywood has been there for me and looked after me in many ways either in school or church. I am one of must be 100's of people she has given time to help

This is why i would like to raise some money to Give to the family to Install a Memorial bench in the Grounds of the Chaucer School as a remembrance and even raise enough to plant a tree in her memory.

    Miss Dorothy Haywood x

I have known "Auntie Dorothy" all my life. Her parents were good friends with my parents so we met at home, at school,at Sunday school. She even took my children to Nottingham to see Santa.
