After having many members of our group experience family within care homes or suffering with dementia, we have decided to raise awareness for this condition and get funding to carry out refurbishments at a local care home.

Dementia affects 850,000 people in the UK, with one in six people over the age of 80 years old with dementia. As the young people of today, we understand the necessity to understand those struggling members of the elderly community and be able to work with them well.

We are planning to do a sponsored route finding walk, where we will be using only our knowledge (no google maps!) of the area to find a unknown destination. This is to highlight and raise awareness of a common symptom of Dementia - route finding difficulties, as well as challenging ourselves physically with long distance walking and mentally - being technology free throughout.

The money we raise will be used to help refurbish the local care home - Longmoor Care Home, with ideas such as: regenerating the garden, decorating family room or funding leisure activities for residents.
