    Story

Hi and thank you for taking the time to read our JustGiving donation page which we have set up in aid to provide Oliver with specialist equipment he will need in his every day life.

At birth unbeknown his parents apart from a small red patch, Oliver had what is known as plexiform schwannoma’s (nerve tumors) rapidly growing at the bottom of his left leg and behind his left knee. The tumor behind his knee was subsequently removed in January 2017 but unfortunately a later MRI scan showed that there were 2 smaller tumors growing back. The lesion on his lower leg consisted of a mass of tumors growing on the surface of the skin and around his bone which deformed his tibia and ankle. This meant the only option was amputation.

On the 2nd June 2017 at the age of 14 months, Oliver underwent an above knee amputation. This was and still is devastating for his family and it has given them even more strength and determination to give their little boy the best possible start in life.

On the 23rd June a group of 12 riders (current and past GE employees) will be attempting the coast to coast in a day challenge. This starts at Seascale on the west coast, passing through the lake district (taking in Hardknott and Wrynose pass) continuing through the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors, to finish at Whitby on the east coast. This is a total of 150 miles and 14,750 ft of climbing!!

By donating, you are funding Oliver with the right equipment for him to give him the freedom to live a bright, happy future and allow him to join in playing with his family and friends.

Thank you all again for reading Oliver’s story and considering donating. Every donation will be really appreciated and will allow his parents to give Oliver the best opportunities. To read more about Oliver’s story and to follow his journey, please visit his website - Inmyfootsteps.co.uk

Well done to you all on this magnificent achievement. It was great to see Greg looking so good at work on the Monday even if a bit saddle-sore! Keep up the good work and God bless you.
