Our amazing son Oscar who is 3 years old, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes just 2 weeks ago. The diagnosis was a complete shock to us as we thought he had a urine infection, due to him weeing and drink a lot. However when the doctor said he had glucose in his urine and his blood glucose were 33, we new it wasn't good.... We were then rushed up to hospital where Oscar was subjected to a barrage of tests, finger pricks etc. This was an emotional time for us all, seeing him scared, worried and in pain.

Over the next few days in hospital Oscar was a real trooper, reluctantly having his finger pricks and insulins injections. Slowly we are coming to terms with this life change, but it is so stressful for is all.

We are crowd funding for a piece of kit that will make managing Oscars diabetes far easier and be less traumatic for him. The Libre Freestyle is a flash blood glucose monitor, that will allow us to monitor Oscars blood glucose with out pricking his finger. At the moment we are both off work as it takes two of us to mange him. With this kit it will enable us to manage this on our own, releasing on of us to go back to work.

When Oscar is 4 we should be able to get the Libre Freestyle on the NHS. But until then it will cost over £100 every month, to give him this life changing kit.
