Weʼve raised £1,160 to Velindre - a specialist cancer treatment centre on the outskirts of Cardiff

Funded on Monday, 15th April 2019

    Story

My Dad passed away from undiagnosed Bowel Cancer on the 2nd of November this year. So undertaking this challenge has new meaning for me. Any money raised that can help reserch this horrible disease, would be wonderful.

As a family we would prefer if you donated to Velindre rather than buy flowers for my Dad's funeral. Many thanks

Velindre - offers specialist cancer treatments on the outskirts of Cardiff. Every year they support roughly 5000 new cancer patients, their families and around 50'000 outpatients. In a bid to raise money for a cause very close to my heart I (Paul Clark) will be taking on the Arctic Blast Challenge!

The Arctic Blast Challenge is an unsupported attempt to cover 100km across the Arctic Circle in 5 days. This is an immense challenge that I have decided to undertake in order to raise money for Velindre to give back to a charity that means a lot to me and my family.

A few years ago I lost my aunty Doff to cancer, my Aunty Joan has survived cancer, as well as others members of my family. My wife at the age of 49 has already lost both her mother and father to cancer.

The charity were a shining light in a difficult time, and there are thousands of other people in similar situations benefitting from the support and care of Velindre and their staff. With cancer affecting so many people it is reassuring to have such an incredible facility in Wales, and I would like to raise some money to help their great work continue and reach more people & families.

Thank you to everyone for your support.
