Story
Jerry was full of life with a passion for cycling, his work and most importantly his family.
On Sunday 12th November, Jerry embarked upon his usual Sunday outing on the bike and on the way home suffered a heart attack. At 53 and being at his physical peak with his fitness, we were shocked and thought that he, of all people, would pull through, with it being a warning to slow down a little. The events of the next 48 hours were like living an emotional rollercoaster, but he never pulled through.... and we are all left with a void which we have to somehow learn to live with.
The coronary care unit gave Jerry the best care we could have hoped for and although he had suffered a severe heart attack, they battled the best they could attempting every treatment and procedure possible to try keep him with us, something we’ll be eternally grateful, despite our huge loss.
On May 26th 2018 we plan to take part in the Tour de Conamara, covering 140km across County Galway with his Irish family Brendan (who was like a brother to him) Patricia and Joanna, cycling lads and close friends Billy & Arwel, and myself Chris & Ant all in memory of Jerry. He was planning this trip himself this year.
All proceeds raised will be going to the Coronary Care Unit to help support this wonderful resource we have here in Wales and our way of giving back to the unit, and while our outcome was a deeply sad one, there are many families this facility has helped keep together.
So please sponsor us.....this will be a tough challenge for me personally, but its for a great cause and in memory of our Jerry - loving husband, father and friend x
