    Story

Performance in People has rounded up a team of 27 people who are crazy enough to take on the 10-mile Tough Mudder assault course once again, on Saturday 5th May.

This year we will be fundraising in memory of two people very close to our hearts; Caleb Toby Smith and Tim Morris.

We aim to raise over £1,000 for the Isle of Wight Children’s Ward at St Mary's Hospital and the Isle of Wight Kidney Patient Association; both of which played a massive role in supporting Caleb and Tim during their lifetime.

    OUR MOTIVATION

Caleb sadly passed away last year at just 4 years old. He faced many challenges over his short life. A liver transplant at 16 months, countless blood tests, hospital admissions for infections and tests to name a few. On March 23 2017, Caleb went into hospital for a routine tonsillectomy. For reasons no one can explain, he was unable to recover from his anaesthetic in recovery and admitted to Intensive Care. After working on him for over 24 hrs, Caleb suffered a catastrophic bleed to his brain. Nothing could be done to save him. Throughout all of his tough times, his character shone through. Caleb was without doubt the most courageous little boy we’ve ever met. He was an inspiration and a true hero!

Tim was an employee at PiP from September 2011 to June 2014. He had suffered many years with chronic kidney disease and sadly lost his battle in December last year. Anyone who knew him will remember how memorable he was – he loved sharing his crude jokes, farting in interviews and chatting up the nurses whilst on dialysis just to name a few! He also formed a part of our PiP Band at our Christmas Party in 2013 and enjoyed presenting on Vectis Radio – he had a real passion for music. Tim was very much loved and always demonstrated a positive attitude despite the many challenges life threw at him.
