Story
This is to buy an iced drinks machine for the YPU run by Teenage Cancer Trust at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham.
I lost my son James Lancaster after an 18 month battle with HCC liver cancer in 2014. He was 23. During his various chemo and other, invasive cancer treatments he spent a lot of time in the YPU at the QE Hospital and us with him there. One of the side effects of cancer treatments is extreme thirst for ice cold fluids as body temperatures fluctuate. At the time jugs of iced water had to be fetched for patients by nurses from a neighbouring ward which wasn't ideal. I want to buy a Slush Puppie machine for the ward so that the young people can have access to ice cold drinks at all times. I realise this doesn't sound particularly amazing but having seen first hand how chemo affects the body I know this will be some help in alleviating the terrible side effects
