    Story

Portobello Rugby minis have ran for over 30 years. We have produced Scotland age grade caps, a Scotland ladies captain and hundreds of senior players for Portobello 1XV.

COVID-19 had a huge impact on our ability to raise vital funds. Regular fundraising events such as our Mini Festival, Quiz night, and Old Boys Day (which makes a donation to youth rugby) were cancelled.

Meanwhile, our current crop of stars continue growing, many are in need of new strips. We also need new training equipment: balls, tackle bags, rucking shields and so on.

To raise funds we are hosting an online raffle. For every £5 donated you will receive 2 entries into the draw with the chance to win some great prizes!

Help us continue to provide access to Rugby at Porty for future generations. Thank you.

    Prizes include:

    • Portobello Rugby branded leisurewear

    • Hamper

    • Bottles of gin, whisky, vodka

    • Vouchers for local coffee shops and eateries

    • Chocolates

    and many more!

    Special Thanks

    • Lauren, who has organised prizes from Image Scotland who do the club’s leisure range

    • Rob at The Thistle Street Bar

    • Terry at Wee Green Van

    Closing date

    • 28 October 2020

    P6 Efforts

As part of the fundraising effort, our Primary 6 squad have committed to take on the challenge of completing a team marathon. Covering the marathon distance of 26.2 miles between them by completing 126 laps of the First XV rugby pitch.

We should have between 10-12 players/runners on the day, completing up to 15 laps (3 miles) each, most of whom haven't done much long distance running before.

Even if some don't manage so many, it will be a great challenge and a big team effort, and together, with your support, we're confident we can hit the magic 126 laps.

Any donations you feel able to make will be gratefully received and spur us on when the lungs are burning and the legs are failing!

Just one more lap guys & girls!

      Portobello Rugby Minis

We offer Mini Rugby for P2-P7 boys and girls, and provide an early years grounding in the fundamentals of rugby. In the later Primary School years we are aiming to provide a solid grounding for the transition to the full 15 aside game.
