Weʼve raised $2,210 to Support the London Autism Group Charity in Memory of Randy Black Schantz

Funded on Thursday, 14th September 2017

    Story

Randy Black Schantz (known to her grandchildren as "Bubbe") passed away peacefully on May 18th 2017 at the age of 61.

Randy was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis when she was 23 which led to her permanently losing her ability to walk when she was 37. Much of her time and energy was spent supporting and advocating for good causes including people with physical disabilities, children from impoverished backgrounds, and people with mental health problems.

However, towards the end of her life, she became very passionate about autism. In 2014 her son-in-law founded the London Autism Group which Randy helped to support. Randy's wish was for the group to become a Registered Charity.

Therefore, in lieu of flowers, Randy's wish is for any proceeds made in her memory, to be made to the London Autism Group so that, upon becoming a charity, the money can be used to support the autism community. This would include funding community events, helping with school transport fees and funding equipment that can be therapeutic for autistic people and their families.
