In memory of my Dad, Lloyd John Mather.

My daughter Daisy and I will participating in the Walking Out Of Darkness walk 2018, we will be doing the London leg as well as the Norwich one.

As most of my friends know, I sadly lost my Dad to suicide and have always struggled coming to terms with that. Last year I joined a support group called Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide (SOBS) which has helped me gain the confidence to find the answers of some of the questions that have tormented me for so long. The group has also opened my eyes to a lot of events and functions aimed at people just like me - who have lost someone special to suicide...I had no idea these even existed as it's such a stigmatized subject...people just don't talk about suicide let alone advertise it!

"Walking Out Of Darkness" is arranged by a charity called CLASP, which are a counselling, life advice and suicide prevention charity, and are the first charity focusing solely on the stigma of mental & stress related illness, emotional life traumas and suicide. They would like people to interact and give support while obtaining advice from professionals and people who have suffered and overcome similar problems or the family and carers of those that have suffered....so there's help and support for everyone affected!

The walking out of darkness event is a 10 mile walk around London on 13th may and again round Norwich in September, i'll be doing it with my Daughter Daisy and I will be wearing a picture of my Dad to highlight just how much suicide prevention matters to me and my family.
