    Story

    Jean's story

In May this year Jean’s health started to decline. A condition that had been stable for a few years started to deteriorate and in June, Jean was admitted to hospital for 6 weeks. During this time they discovered her kidneys were also failing and that there was very little that could be done to improve her condition. The very difficult decision was made to commence palliative care.

On the 6th of August Jean was transferred to Little Haven, a nursing home in Dibden Purlieu, Southampton.

Jean settled in very well with the help from the amazing staff, who quickly showed how professional and caring they are. In the 7 weeks Jean was there she built a lovely relationship with the carers, nurses and all staff. We never thought that Jean would settle anywhere else other than her own home but they made her feel comfortable and very welcome, like part of the family.

The care and compassion was very clear to see. And Jean’s health and personal needs were always met with a positive, caring and dedicated attitude. Nothing was ever too much to ask for.

They also looked after us (her husband and daughter) incredibly well. We were welcomed everyday which we felt very lucky for especially during this time that we are all currently dealing with.

So as a little thank you to the staff at the nursing home, in Dibden Purlieu for making Jeans last few months with us so special we are trying to raise some money to help support them. We will work with the nursing home to find out what we can buy with the donations raised to help the carers and residents.

    Thank you reading Jeans story.

Thank you so much for your donations. Kelly and I will be administering the monies donated. We will be speaking to the staff and asking what can we can provide that will benefit the staff and residents. One idea is a 3 or 4 seater Oak Bench with a plaque "Jean's Bench" for the garden so all can use it. We are at 80% of the original target set and just want to say thank you. Love and Hugs Steve and Kelly
