Story
For the past three and a bit years I have grown, conditioned, oiled and nourished my hair like a big loser for the sole purpose of cutting it all off and giving it away.
Yes it’s thick, silky and luxuriously curly but I hate it. I hate brushing it, I hate washing it, I hate how long it takes to dry and I hated growing it out (spent most of 2016 wearing a hat). On a side note, my wife has made it pretty clear she prefers me looking less pretty than her.
All this follicle endurance is not in vain however, as I know full well that all the effort and time that goes into maintaining these early-90's-Metallica-esque locks would not be taken for granted in the least by any of the little girls that The Little Princess Trust is awesome enough to give the gift of real hair to. So the hair and the £250 needed to turn my lustrous mane into a little girls dream come true are on their way to them.
Alongside donating the hair, I want to raise money to support the work of The Wave Youth - a venture I helped set up alongside the local churches to put on excellent youth groups, support local schools, host weekends away, run open mic nights and offer affordable holidays for the youth and young people in and around Swanage.
I love my job and want to ensure that we can continue to provide for the youth in Swanage and meet our running costs - the life expectancy of a table tennis ball is criminally low. Guitar strings, mic cables and drumsticks are expensive and regularly need replacing and we ensure we subsidise all our activities so its as accessable to the youth as possible.
I grew my hair for around 1095 days and I'd love to make £3 for each of those... lets see what happens.

6 years agoWell it happened - at approximately 10:45 yesterday morning my hair was tied in bunches and sliced off. If it hadn't been for my brothers upcoming wedding, I'd have been buzzed to a grade one. But out of respect for my mums wishes, I am holding onto a few inches on top! Thank you to everyone who has donated and shared this story with friends, family and people you forgot to purge from Facebook years ago. It means the world to me that we've hit well into the £1000 mark 👍🏻

6 years agoIt’s ten past midnight and I really ought to b asleep. Th problem is a I just checked my email on my phone (not a recommended part of a bedtime routine) and saw that £710 pounds has been donated in just 5 days 😶. That’s 20% of my target hit and I still haven't had my hair cut yet! Will be on the phone to. hairdresser first thing on Monday to book an appointment. Thanks so much for all the generous donations 👍🏻
