Sierra Leone. As the 14th poorest country in the world, many basic needs and human rights are not as freely available as me may believe. Many atrocities have taken place in its 50 years of independence from the UK, these include a civil war, the Ebola crisis and a huge mud slide. These have all affected the country significantly and halted any potential development the country may have gone through in those times.

Here at St Anselm's, we have been visiting Sierra Leone with multiple Sixth Form groups since 2007. During these Immersions, the students get to assist the people in need. This assistance varies from donating a large basic yet essential supplies that we take for granted, teaching the young boys and girls sports that we enjoy playing (although we are commonly schooled ourselves when it comes to playing against one another!) to even enjoying the life and youth we are all graced with and cannot waste.

The College tries to provide the opportunity to every student that wishes to go each year, however the trip comes at a cost. We are asking for £2000 to subsidise some of the trip for all of the students that wish to go. This £2000 will go a long way as it will subtract nearly £200 off the total cost for each student! This could be the deciding factor for many of the boys who want to go. Any amount of money that you can donate will help massively! Thank you.
