I have been selected as one of four participants from my district to attend the 24th World Scout Jamboree 2019. This is a unique, once-in-a-lifetime experience that I am truly honoured to have the chance to experience. The World Scout Jamboree (WSJ) take place every four years, and brings together scouts from many different backgrounds; this gives each participant the opportunity to learn about cultures and religions different to their own.

The 24th WSJ is taking place in West Virginia, North America, at the Boy Scouts of America's new billion-dollar campsite, Summit Bechtel Reserve. This colossal site is larger than the greater Derby area, and 45 000 scouters (greater than the population of Ilkeston) from around the world will be in attendance.

I am responsible for raising my own funds to pay for the cost of the trip, and part of this fee goes toward assisting other scouts from less economically developed countries in attending. In total, I have to raise £3 595 in total. So far, I have raised £781 from a variety of sources, including, bag packing, gardening, IT help, and organising a charity curry night. On top of this, I have many more bag packs lined up, I am hoping to help organise a "pop-up tearoom" for the local cycling club, help on a charity carnival stall. I will also be holding multiple car boots with items that have been donated.
