Fleur de Lys is a youth football club based in the naval city of Portsmouth. The city has some of the highest levels of deprivation in the UK.

Playing football allows these children to dream. They dream of walking out at Wembley, of playing in a World Cup final, of shaking hands with Harry Kane. Of course, the majority of them will never achieve that dream, but they should still be allowed to have that dream.

Playing football has obvious health and fitness benefits. It instills in the children the ethics of teamwork, which will be vital in their adult life. It teaches them the respect for authority, in the shape of the referee, which again will be necessary as they mature.

And above all, it's fun. They enjoy playing just for the sake of playing with their mates.
