Story
The Secret Rainbow Kids is a non-profit organisation founded by Tammy Clark, Author and Illustrator of 'The Secret in the Rainbow - A Gift of Positivity'.
The organisation has been created to celebrate the achievements of children between 5 to 16 years old, that have overcome adversity and / or disadvantages, allowing them the opportunity of becoming inspirational hero’s to their peers.
The Secret Rainbow Kids aspires to achieve it's goals by offering the following:
* Showcase a Secret Rainbow Kids annual awards ceremony, open to all children registered with a school place within the UK. The aim is to run each annual event at a different school / location. The awards evening would require attendance of the 12 winning children, their families, and the Secret Rainbow Kids board members. (Optional) attendance would be encouraged for the staff, pupils, parents and siblings connected to the school of choice. The annual awards will be held every September, starting in 2020. The aim will be to hold the event on a Friday evening from 18:00 to 20:00.
* A bespoke mini story will be created by, Tammy Clark for each of the 12 winners, to be presented to them along with a trophy on the evening of the awards ceremony. These books will not be duplicated, nor available for sale.
* In the lead up to the awards ceremony, all 12 winning children will be encouraged to write their own fictional story to include their own fictional characters. The objective of these stories will be to inspire other children. These stories will be put together in to one book which will be advertised on the night of the event and go on sale the following day via Amazon. A clause will be put in place to make the parents and children aware that there will be no financial gain to be made from this exercise as 50% of any profits from book sales will go back in to the Secret Rainbow Kids project and the other 50% of profits will be donated to another charity chosen by the current Secret Rainbow Kids board members. The chosen charity will change each year.
* Efforts will be made to put on-going support in place for the 12 winning children in terms of future workshops, etc. via collaborations with local businesses and charities.
What we've achieved so far
The Secret Rainbow Kids ran a pilot awards program for 12 children on the 20th September, 2018 at the EQUAL Event and London Fashion week show. The pilot also involved the completion of 12 stories (written and illustrated by author, Tammy Clark) and were based on the true events of the children's experiences. The stories were produced as singular mini books and presented to the winners along with their trophies on the evening of the event. The entire process was extremely successful with more and more people showing a keen interest to get involved.
The parents and the children that were involved with the 2018 pilot scheme have had nothing but praise for the project and hope that this is the start of something bigger and better going forward. You can view more information about this year’s event by visiting our website: Secret Rainbow Kids
Quote from one of the parents of a 2018 Secret Rainbow Kids winner:
If I could rate this over 10 stars I would. I highly recommend the Secret Rainbow Kids. Also look forward to the future shows. All of it shows that kids all have a dream.
We now need YOUR HELP...
Message from founder, Tammy Clark -
The Secret Rainbow Kids really are making a difference. However, the time has come that we now need your help. Having spent six years on this project and investing heavily into making it a reality I am now at the stage where I need help to finance this project to allow it to continue.
Every penny and every pound counts. There really is no such thing as not enough.
The Secret Rainbow Kids is and will always be a non-profit organisation set up to help recognise children from across the UK and Northern Ireland for their outstanding efforts against the odds.
How will your money help?
Your generous donations will allow us to continue with our mission. As a non-profit organisation every penny that we receive will go directly to the project allowing us to cover costs such as:
- Legal fees, allowing us to stay up to date with data protection, child protection, child safeguarding and all policies and procedures designed to take care of the rights and well-being of everyone that is involved with the Secret Rainbow Kids, including the Secret Rainbow Kids winners (aged 5 to 16 yrs) and their families
- The creation and production of the book containing the Secret Rainbow Kids stories
- The annual awards ceremony which includes, but is not limited to; venue hire, stage production, trophies, catering, travel and accommodation (when applicable) for 12 winning children and two family members per child
- The production and publication of the winners fictional stories
- Marketing and PR
- Fundraising Events
Thank you so much to all the Secret Rainbow Kids supporters and the children, for taking the time to read through our campaign and helping us to take this project forward to the next steps. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.
