Zoe Doogan is 2 and a half years old and lives with her Mum and Dad in the Broughty Ferry area of Dundee.
Only a few weeks after being born, Zoe was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis, a life limiting genetic condition which effects the lungs, digestive system and other organs. There are less than 11,000 people in the U.K. who suffer from CF.
There is no known cure.
Zoe takes 6 different types of medication daily plus up to 10 tablets with every meal or snack. She also faces rigorous physiotherapy daily which when unwell this can be as many as 4 times a day.
Zoe is unable to do simple things such as playing with mud due to the bacteria it carries. She gets tired easily, so can't always keep up with playing with her friends. A simple cold can have serious implications on her health, and even reduce her life expectancy.
According to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, only half of those living with this condition will live to around 40 years old. Zoe might not live beyond her early 20's.
Cystic Fibrosis is known as the invisible illness. Meeting Zoe, you might only see a pretty, happy little girl. This would only be because of the unbelievable amount of work and care provided by a team of professionals, but mostly by her amazing Mummy & Daddy.
It is a progressive illness which means things for Zoe are only likely to get worse.
For the past two years, parents Daniel & Elaine have fundraised tirelessly to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, which focuses on finding a cure. They have committed to numerous fundraising events in their spare time. Whilst doing this they have had to hear, see and do things that no parents should ever have to.
So we would like to help.
Although taking trips with Zoe involves special assistance and taking up to a whole case of different medications with them, we think Zoe deserves something quite special.
Therefore, we're going to fundraise to give Zoe the holiday of a lifetime in Orlando, Florida where she can meet all her favourite Disney Characters
