The Local Community have recognised there is a huge need for a suitable, safe, supervised and purpose built Toddler play area within the existing Tea Rooms play area, and have come together in order to raise funds to see this project created.

Currently Shenley Park (The Orchard Café / Shenley Tea Rooms) only offers play equipment for children, Key Stage 1 and above.

Families will benefit greatly from a co-ordinated play area, allowing younger children to enjoy healthy outdoor play in the same, safe and secure environment as their older siblings. Parents will be able to easily safe-guard their children of all ages.

We believe that outdoor play enhances a child’s learning experience and general well being. "Research shows the benefits of outdoors experiences include positive impacts on education, physical health, emotional well-being and personal and social skills". (RSPB Natures Voice Every Child Outdoors). "Children need to experience and have opportunities to explore nature, run, roll, climb and swing because outdoor play is part of being a child." (Johnson Christie and Wardle Play, Development and Early Education). "These basic activities develop body management, balance, bodily co-ordination, strength, agility and confidence". (Early Years Org for Young Children).
