Hello. My name is Siena

and I am one of a team of nine youngsters from the Bishop’s Stortford area who have been specially chosen to take part in the World-Wide Scouting Jamboree in America in 2019. This is a unique event shared by 40,000 others from across the world - an historic occasion with even more participants than the London 2012 Olympics. Together we will get the opportunity to live, learn and share in a truly global experience.

I am a member of the Bishop's Stortford Scout District and I need to raise money to fund Scouts from the developing world and myself, to go on this fantastic adventure.

My Goals

I have some real goals for wanting to go to this fabulous adventure and these are:

1: Life experience:

- Chance to see a new part of the world

- Being independent, travelling without my family

- Make new friends

- Greater awareness of the scouting movement and its role in different cultures and parts of the world.

2: Being part of a team:

- Working with new friends and leaders in new ways

- Learning new life skills to help me adapt and challenge myself

- Promoting scouting in our community

3: Personal growth:

- Increase my confidence and self esteem

- Help me be more active in team situations

- Step out of my comfort zone with public speaking and presentations

- Challenge myself to improve my organisational and fund-raising skills

- Meet with people of different ages and backgrounds in our community

What else am I doing to help raise funds?

My team and I are also planning to raise money in lots of ways: bake sales, tombolas, music events, car washing, water sport events, bush/camping skills day, community orienteering event etc

Last weekend I did bag packing at Sainsbury's. Next we are going to have a car boot sale with lots our no longer wanted items.
