Steve passed away suddenly and unexpectedly last September after suffering with major depression for almost his entire adult life.

To many of us Steve was the guy with the quick wit, the big smile and the big heart. Always there to help, he inspired, encouraged and gave time, strength and support to those he loved and admired.

This was part of Steve's coping mechanism in dealing with depression. Seeing someone he loved smile was what got him through his own day-to-day struggles and his way of battling with the feelings of unworthiness, inadequacy, self-loathing and worthlessness. These negative feelings are the lies that depression tells to those unfortunate to suffer from it. To combat the lies Steve found balance and truth from the smiles of friends, the joy of family, the solitude of music and of course the goals of an Everton win.

By opening up to understanding the realities of what depression is, how it manifests itself and kills from within we would like to help avoid future senseless and indiscriminate tragedies happening to the loved ones of others.

So please join us to celebrate the life of Steven Carl Gough (1977-2017) and help raise funds for PAPYRUS - Prevention of Young Suicide and to start a savings fund for his son, Alf which will mature when he is 18.
