My name is Esther. My children and I are Hungarian survivors of domestic violence. I had to leave my native Hungary to build a new life for us in the UK. We are on the mend. Now I want to give back.

Hungarian domestic violent victims have a hard time as the government neither protects nor helps them financially to start a new life.

When an abused mother gets away from an abusive relationship, they have to find a new apartment and a job, and they are supposed to save up money by themselves to be able to do that. Apart form this new life being hard on the children, litigation is stressful and hard to deal with as the government does not help with that either.

I am in a secret Facebook group of about eighty mothers and some expert volunteers (policewoman, lawyer, social worker, welfare expert etc.) and at Christmas we would like to make some families’ lives easier, helping mothers and children recover.

In this group there are mothers who need firewood for the winter. One member is in need of finances to pay her apartment rent. Another one needs to pay her lawyer to get her child back from the abusive father. And the list goes on…

The money I raise will go for victims of domestic violence and their children to make their Christmas somewhat more bearable. Christmas gifts for them would be food, sanitary products, diapers, laundry detergent, ect. – things that become essential when you need them but you don’t have them.

Az ugyvedi koltsegek ezen bantalmazott anyaknak nagyon nehezkes kifizetni. Es az allam ebben sem segit nekik.
