    Story

Almost a year ago I found out I was going to go through the most incredible journey of pregnancy at the same time as my sister Chloe. With our due dates only 11 days apart, it was such an exciting time!
At Chloe's 20 week anomaly scan, she and her husband Reuben had the worst news any parent could hear; that there was something not quite right. It was suspected that he had a cleft lip and palate and possible genetic abnormalities. They were told by midwives to think about whether she wanted to continue with the pregnancy.
They were warned that the baby could potentially be deaf and/or blind and could have some developmental and/or genetic abnormalities.
The two of them took everything in their stride and stayed amazingly positive.
On the 15th of July 2018, the beautiful Theodore Wilfred Maybrey was born.
His diagnosis was a complete bilateral cleft lip and palate affecting the gum notch.
At the 6 week check, he had the routine hearing checks which came back that he could not hear. He has undergone further and more intense testing and he is partially deaf, however the severity is still unknown and more tests will be taken at 8 months old.
Teddy's cleft affects his ability to feed properly and he suffers from severe reflux which has affected his weight. At almost 4 months old he is still wearing newborn clothes.
Already this amazing strong family have been through so much and they have so much ahead of them. Following frequent trips to Exeter and Bristol hospital Teddy has now been given a surgery date. On the 5th of December at almost 5 months old he will undergo the first of many intense facial reconstruction surgery.
The aim of this Just Giving page is to help the incredible family with petrol costs to Bristol hospital, special bottles for his feeding and special outfits so not to irritate the wounds when changing him. Also to make sure his older brother Bowie does not feel left out. Please help us to make this journey to Teddy's forever smile much easier.
