    Story

We are Theatre Street Performing Arts, a not-for-profit social enterprise company that provides dance, drama and singing to young people from the local area of London SE2 and local neighbourhoods. We currently are able to provide classes for around 150 families who have children that come to us for fantastic activities each week that promote a healthy lifestyle, love of the arts, communication skills and confidence.

With our expansion plans at The Link in Abbey Wood and Thamesmead, we can massively increase our ability to welcome new young people in. We have launched a sixth form college for young people to help them develop their skills, and we can create spaces for up to sixty young people to join this course over the coming years if we can expand within the building, and our dance classes and theatre school can grow and develop giving us the chance to double to number of children we can welcome into our activities. We know that performing arts has a massive positive effect on young people's lives, and their community, and this chance to grow means we can make a huge difference and enrich the lives of the young people we work with.

We need to convert the space into two new studios including mirrors and dance flooring, plus a further teaching room, and get equipment such as safety mats and electric pianos and other music equipment. Our new venue is going to be an amazing place for young people to find a brilliant focus for their spare time and learn skills that will last them a lifetime, whatever profession they end up choosing.

We aim to nurture talent and provide opportunities, but above that we want every child that comes to us a gain the confidence and skills that drama, dance and music can provide, and our expansion plans mean we can open our doors wider and welcome many more young people in.

I am Claire Pourret. I launched TSPA in 2001 with just 12 local children in a small village hall in South East London. I now provide performing arts activities for 200 young people each week. Teaching young people the joy of dance, music and theatre is my great passion in life.
