Story
The Farm Project Community Interest Company (not-for-profit CIC) was set up in 2015 to offer children, from predominantly disadvantaged backgrounds, a unique residential experience on a working organic farm.
For many it is the very first visit to a farm and the first time away from their homes. Most have never collected warm eggs from a chicken or pulled a muddy carrot from the ground (then cooked and eaten it - nearly all the food eaten during the week is cooked by the children themselves).
The nurturing environment and small group size offers invaluable opportunities for personal development and growth - children who struggle in the traditional classroom environment often really flourish here on the farm. Doing meaningful farm jobs gives them a sense of responsibility and achievement. Team-work, confidence and self-esteem are strengthened and positive relationships built as children gain valuable life-skills to take back to their homes, schools and communities.
Due to ever shrinking budgets many schools/groups that would like to come cannot meet the full cost of the visit.
A week long visit for 10 children (plus 3 staff) costs £3,750.
By raising £28,125 we can cut the cost of the visit to £1,875, making it much easier for schools/groups to raise their share of the cost.
Donations of any amount welcome and please do share this with friends and family.
