This Justgiving page has been created to support the families of Thomas Howard (25), and Tom Baty (26) who tragically passed away earlier this month.

Thomas and Tom, both from Durham, were best friends, and work colleagues who were on tour together in Sri Lanka with the Clems Pirates team of Durham City RFC.

Unfortunately due to the difficulties in communication between family and friends in the UK and in Sri Lanka the exact events leading up to their deaths are unclear, and are likely to be so until all are able to return home.

It is believed that Howard, Baty, and team mates ventured out in to Colombo, Sri Lanka to celebrate their first win on Saturday 12/05. They are believed to have returned to their hotel together in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Upsettingly the events following this seem to have been misreported by the media, all of whom have reported different stories, and incorrect information. We will therefore leave it there, out of respect.

The devastating news of Thomas’ death came on Sunday 13/05/18. Thomas was said to have died due to breathing difficulties, the cause of which is not yet known.

Tom Baty was admitted to hospital, also with breathing difficulties, where he fell in to a coma. Sadly Tom passed away 2 days later on Tuesday 15/05/18.

The news of their passing has broken the hearts of Thomas and Toms friends and family, Thomas’ partner Emma, and Tom's partner Charlotte.

Thomas and Tom had many friends and were well known within the local community. They will be extremely missed by all.

The money raised here will be donated to the families of Thomas Howard and Tom Baty to support them in any way that they may need.
