Next month I'll be running over the top of Montserrat to help raise money for our chosen charity of choice Maher.

Mahers mission is to identify and understand the root causes of violence and despair experienced by women and children in India. Whilst trying to understand this problem, they have provided a sanctuary for those suffering where they can live in peace.

All money we raise will be used to help fund shelter, food, education and computer equipment for the refuges and help those who have been witheld education training for work and the skills to be able to provide for themselves and their families.

Some of the stories we heard about whilst staying here include:

- Children who have been sexually abused and disowned by their own families

- Children with no families

- Woman escaping from violent husbands

- Babies that had been left on the road in plastic bags

- The disabled and mutiliated, who have nowhere else to go

- The elderly who have no one to care for them

This is a great charity, and provides support to some of the most impoverished communities around India.
