Poor nutrition causes nearly half the deaths in under 5's globally! That is a staggering 3.1million deaths a year. 66million children go to school hungry and 23 million of these are in Africa. If you are a parent, aunt, uncle, grandparent then you would not like the children in your family being in that situation.
It is apparant that the usual humanitarian causes are not enough and more aid is required. This is where Nourish the Children is helping, by providing a stable nutrious meal for a child when they go to school. So, not only do they get fed but they also get educated too!

The initiative also shows the local farmers how to grow the crops, irrigate the fields and sustain a business. These crops are then sent to the local centres where by the trained staff mix the maize with the nutrients that are added for bone, cognitive, skin and immune development. The product is then bagged up and shipped locally with the help of country based charities such as Feed the Children!
