Story
On the 21st July 1941 a truly inspirational man, Dr Vallabhbhai Ahir, was born. In 2018, battling a terminal illness, he reminded his nephew of a bet he lost some years before. At that moment, his family told him they would complete his bet for him.
On Saturday 21st July 2018 (Val's birthday) members of his family will complete a bike ride from his home in Goff’s Oak to his beloved business, Makevale Ltd in Ware, Hertfordshire. The journey is approximately 12 miles and will be completed by members aged from 8 - 72, with those able completing the return leg too! This bike ride will be raising money for a charity very close to Val’s heart - Gandhighar Kacholi (India), a school for abandoned deaf and mute girls.

5 years agoWe wish to thank everyone that donated to our cause - the money will have a huge impact on the lives of every child at the school. It was a truly memorable and humbling way to spend Christmas Day and we are sure Vallabhbhai is proud of everyone who helped make this happen.

5 years agoOn 25 December 2018 our family visited Gandhighar Kacholi in Gujarat, India. We were given a tour of the school grounds and an insight into the operations and ongoing projects there. A delicious lunch with the school children followed after which we had the opportunity to meet them, including a brief teaching demonstration! Our story was presented to management along with a cheque - after which we discussed the various projects that the funds would be directed towards.
