Story
Care for Kid's is a voluntary charity that has been supporting registered children's charities in the UK for many years. Some of the beneficiaries have been: Bone Cancer Research UK, The Daisy Garland Trust, The Boathouse Youth, Alder Hey Children's Hospital and Brian House to name just a few. In Northern Ghana lies a village namely Tuna, with a population of about 8,000 people spread across an area of 5,600km. The people are some of the poorest people in the region. The children have nowhere to go or no food to eat. Last year we were able to fund a water pump as many of the children and adults each month were becoming seriously ill or even dying. Typhoid, cholera, diphtheria, and water infected diseases were the main cause of the illness and death. Water that many of us take for granted was now available to these poor people. Since the water pump has been operational there has been a decrease in illness and the death rate has decreased by 80%. We are hoping this year to raise funds to build a purpose build children's home will 20 beds, showers, toilets, a store room and an office. It will also be used as a school of a day to educate the children. Many of the orphans have nobody to help them, all of them are victims. For the children their playground is derelict ground, for most their lifespan is short, with little or no food and no shelter from the elements. We are hoping to raise £20,000, but initially we need to raise the funds also for beds, bedding , towels, blankets, and basic sanitary needs such as soap, toothpaste, and basic needs. Your support will also allow us to buy basic school supplies and anything that you donate will go straight to the cause with no administration costs or third party. Our contact in Ghana is a missionary priest called Fr. Francis Kulah from the Good Shepard Mission, he told us ' The village children are very excited with the thought they may have shelter and a bed'. We hope you can help and thank you for reading our story
