Story
My friend's beautiful little girl, Lauren, is 5 1/2. To look at her, you would see a bright; happy and determined little girl with a quick smile and a cheeky laugh. What no one sees is what the poor little poppet goes through on a daily basis.
Three years ago, she woke up temporarily unable to walk. She was swiftly diagnosed with JIA - a childhood autoimmune disease which causes inflammation of the joints and eyes. Sometimes she is fine, other times she has been unable to walk for a number of weeks at a time, suffering from severe arthritis in her knee and ankle. The eye condition (uveitis) is very serious and, if left untreated, can cause blindness.
In the last few years, little Lauren has braved three procedures under general anesthetic, weekly injections, fortnightly blood tests and countless different pills, medicines and eye drops. Despite this, she never complains and never stops smiling.
Last month she organised her own sponsored trampoline bounce for her friends and they raised a staggering £2500 for JIA@NRAS, a charity which supports children with Lauren's condition.
She may be tiny, but I am in awe of this little girl. I would like to give something back to someone so brave and so selfless, so I am raising money to send her to Disneyland Paris to reward her for raising so much for charity. If you would like to make this little girl's dreams come true (or if you just want to see me covered in mud and staggering around a field looking broken) please sponsor us.
We will be competing in the Mud Slog in Guildford wearing Pink Princess T shirts and Tiaras for Lauren, there are a number of us in our team and together we hope to raise enough to send this little girl on a magical break. To all friends, families and especially parents out there, Please, if you can spare anything, put your hand in your pocket for us and for the inspirational Lauren.

So, last weekend we did it. The fairy God Brothers smashed the Muscle Acre! A great event made all the better for helping Lauren get to Disneyland Paris. She will be heading out to France in early December and I am sure she will send some great pics for us to enjoy. There are plenty of Pictures of the day on the Muscle Acre Facebook page if you get five mins. We are also looking for someone who deserves a treat for next year if anyone knows of any children who are in need, then the God Brothers want to hear from you. Thank you all once more!

8 years agoAs we go into the last few hours I want to say thank you! Thank you to everyone who has put money into the pot to send Lauren on her magical trip. She doesn't even know it yet, and I cant wait to tell her. We achieved 111% of our target and there is still time to put a few quid in if you can spare it. I toast all your generosity and I promise to stop badgering you all for another year. All that is left to do is order the pink tutus for the run and make it over the finish line. Another campaign next year. If you have a worthy cause, I'm all ears

8 years ago2 days to go and we have smashed it! There is one final item that Lauren needs on her itinerary and its a big one! we have only 2 days so please, get involved and donate what you can, I will tell you what it is if we hit £1170 before the page closes. Today you get to meet Roy, the final member of Laurens team. He is not as colourful as the others but he is not supposed to be, its down to Roy to hurl abuse and insults at anyone who starts to lag behind or if he thinks they deserve it. He's the reason we wont slack of, fear of Roy is a motivator

8 years agoOh my days! last night we hit the magic number that gets our girl to go to Disneyland Paris. Thanks to everyone who has helped so far! We still have a few days left and I would love to get her experiences to enjoy while she is there. Please keep sharing the page and if you haven't got involved yet, now is the time! Our Lauren is 5 years old and has battled her condition, she's a fighter, she's a hero and she is an inspiration to us all. The first treat is breakfast with all her favourite characters. Lets show her how much she means to us. J x
