Story
In memory of Louis, who was tragically killed in a car accident at the age of 22, Music For Louis will provide musical instruments for children most in need in our communities. Louis was travelling in the backseat of a car to Manchester on the afternoon of May 21st 2016 when the car was hit by another vehicle.
Louis was an extremely talented musician and was committed to helping others fulfil their potential. Music For Louis wishes to continue this work and honour his memory through the music he loved so much.
Music For Louis was launched on the first anniversary of his passing. We believe access to musical education helps the healthy development of children, can encourage creativity and offer positive reinforcement. This initiative aims to give children from all backgrounds the opportunity to play music on good quality instruments. Music For Louis is an all volunteers organisation. We have zero overheads and everyone involved is giving up their time and skills for free. All monies raised goes toward providing musical instruments for children.
We believe all children should have access to musical education and the opportunity to learn to play music on good quality instruments in a supportive learning environment. Sadly this is not currently the case. In communities facing many social and economic challenges we believe music can break down barriers and provide opportunities for children. By supporting Music For Louis you will be providing much needed support and equipment for children that may otherwise be denied.
This takes me to one of my biggest challenges yet - climbing Ben Nevis...in drag! Young Hearts Run Free, which played at his funeral, is a song that back in 2014 I created a trapeze performance to, in drag. So, why not climb Ben Nevis thinking of Louis having a right giggle at me looking like a man owning the Beyonce look!
It will be a huge mental challenge, but this cause is totally worth it and well, the glitter will keep me climbing <3

7 years agoThank you to everyone who kindly donated large and small to this cause. You are all awesome! Because of you, children in Edinburgh will be able to make their dreams of playing an instrument come true. Who knows the next Curtis Mayfield, PJ Harvey or Prince could arise from Edinburgh because of your generosity. Keep following Music For Louis and I want to give you all my love for helping me raise money for this cause and in memory of the fabulous Louis Brown <3 #Youngheartsrunfree
