Story
Hey all,
Myself, Charlie, James and Stephin have recruited four new members to the mountaineering team to tackle the UK's biggest rocky boi: Ben Nevis. We're joined by George, Matt, Hayden and Ollie. One of whom suggested we actually do some good by raising a little money whilst doing this climb (nice thinking Hayd).
We'll be climbing the Carn Mor Dearg route up, which is a grade 1 scramble (meaning hands and knees, aching calfs, and quite sheer drops). The four new recruits haven't climb a hill this large before so fair play to them for going straight in with a hardcore ridge climb (they'll be fine). Also, as you probably expected, our resident idiot James will be climbing the mountain in an unusual get-up; instead of a velvet dinner suit he'll be climbing this one in his finest John Smedley pyjamas (would be nice if they sponsored us)...
We decided to raise money for a Lewisham-based organisation called AFRIL (Action For Refugees in Lewisham). They help refugees in South East London by providing English lessons, helping them integrate with the community, and providing other services like citizenship advice and a FoodBank. We chose this charity as I teach at their Saturday supplementary school to help at-risk refugee children to get caught up with where they should be in the UK school curriculum and assist them in learning to speak and read English. I have been with them a while and have seen all the great work they do and the differences they are making in refugees lives in the local area.
Please donate to our cause even if it's literally 50p, I'm a poor student myself so I understand the no money situation, but honestly even the smallest donations are cool!
