Story
Thank you for taking a look at my page. In 2017 when we found out that our baby did not have a heartbeat and had stopped growing we were utterly devastated. There are no words to describe the pain that is felt when you lose a baby and there isn’t really anything that can be said or done to make it better. But there are things that can be done to avoid adding insult to injury. Unfortunately in our case, there was a distinct lack of care from the healthcare providers that we dealt with and it did make an already deeply painful situation, that much worse. I feel passionate that families everywhere who experience baby loss from very early in a pregnancy right up until childbirth, should receive a high standard of EXCELLENT and sensitive care. In order to provide this care, health professionals need to be better educated and trained in dealing with baby loss.
I am hoping to raise £500 so that the charity ‘Beyond Bea’ can put on one of their Study Days. These study days are put on for health professionals and students not limited to but including; Midwives, Nurses, Health Care Assistants, Midwifery Support Workers and Doctors. The purpose of the study days are to educate and train people in dealing with all aspects of baby loss including different types of loss, things such as breaking bad news, caring for bereaved families, memory making and much more. This study day would take place at one of our local hospitals and in memory of our daughter Dahlia Theresa Nicholson.
You can ready more about the charity and their study days here on the Beyond Bea website.
