Thanks to all who have donated, you have been brilliant.  An amazing amount of money raised. Thanks to my company for chipping in £400, much appreciated. My story isn't about me - it's about my father-in-law, Brian.

He was diagnosed with a 5 cm brain tumour (stage IV glioblastoma) whilst on holiday in Spain late last year.  After being flown home in an air ambulance, the tumor was sectioned and removed the very next morning at QMC, Nottingham.  Although this was devastating news for my wife and her family, the love and support they have shown each other has been brilliant. 

All through his ordeal, he has remained remarkably strong and has been more bothered about the family than himself.  I guess you never stop being a Dad.  The impact of this on a family unit highlights how important support networks are and I was surprised to learn that brain cancer is one of the most underfunded in the UK, per capita.

What am I going to do?  To raise cash for Brain Tumour UK, who provide both dedicated research and functional family support, I'll be shaving my head to a grade 1 on Saturday the 17th April, to make a small difference to families in a similar position.  Hair will be donated to help make wigs for children with cancer.

Indeed, I will become a poor cross between Moby and Action Man and will....

.. be taking pictures along the way and going for different hairstyles

.. be shaving my beard (off or shorter) - declining requests for the "my head's on upside down" look

.. apply for my place of work to contribute after the event, as long as we get over £400.  They did just so.  Nice one!!
