Domestic abuse can be the single worst thing that a person can experience. However, it doesn't just stop at the person experiencing it first hand. It can also affect those close to that person such as children, family, friends and even colleagues. Some are lucky to get out of their situation whereas others may not have the support they need to do so and this is where The Dash Charity can play a big part! They help support with social services, court hearings and accessing counselling and other services people need to help them through the bad times.

In the UK

1 in 4 women will experience domestic abuse

1 in 7 men will experience domestic abuse

1 in 5 children will be affected by some form of abuse

A woman will be assaulted an average of 35 times before seeking help

It’s estimated that a woman will leave an abuser up to 8 times before leaving for good

2 women are killed each week from domestic abuse

1 man is killed every three weeks from domestic abuse

Research showed that 155 women and 103 children were turned away from refuges in England on a single day in 2013

1 in 20 children witness domestic abuse between parents

It’s been proven that exposure to domestic abuse before the age of 4 years can affect their brain development and long-term life chances
