Story
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men. In the UK there are 47,700 new cases diagnosed each year. Prostaid provides practical support for men with prostate cancer in Leicestershire, Rutland and Northamptonshire, funding prostate specialist nurses and running local support groups.
In 2018, I ran the Great North Run along with Colin Baggott and Martin Hansen to raise money Target Ovarian Cancer in memory of Alison Baggott who sadly died from the disease. Having raised money for a charity which supports a female cancer in 2018, I decided to raise money in 2019 for a cause which supports cancer specific to men.
I previously ran the Great North Run in 2004 and 2018. In 2004, my time was 2 hours 33 minutes. In 2018, it had improved to 2 hours 9 minutes despite being 60 rather than 46! At 61 this year, I'm not expecting to match or beat my 2018 time. Just finishing will be a great achievement. I would really appreciate any support which you are able to give to me and Prostaid.
