Yes - I did it!

Despite the extremely warm and humid conditions last Sunday (these weather forecasters never seem to get it right....), I managed to get round my first Edinburgh Marathon in 4hr 13 mins. The original 4hr goal proved to much on the day, but all things considered I am extremely happy to have completed the triple!

Thank you so much to everyone who has supported and sponsored me over the past few weeks. Your kind generosity has helped me to smash my sponsorship target - which is absolutely fantastic! I know that your contributions will mean a great deal to the patients, familes and staff at the Baby Intensive Care Unit.

Yes, it’s true.  In a moment of madness over a few beers last summer, I (found out the next day that I had) agreed to run the Edinburgh Marathon together with my drinking buddies - Andy and Dave. 

Not content with that, I have decided to challenge myself to go for the Edinburgh Marathon Triple…… 

1. The Chris Hoy Half Marathon on 18 April - COMPLETED - 1HR 45MIN

2. The Bupa Edinburgh 10k on 2 May  - COMPLETED - 51 MINS

3. Followed by the BIG one… the Edinburgh Marathon on 23 May - COMPLETED 4HRS 13 MINS

 

I am running for the Baby Intensive Care Unit Fund at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.  As you may know, our youngest son Finlay, who was born last July, spent his first few days in the intensive care unit (giving his Mum and Dad a fright in the process).  Lucy and I were so grateful to the staff at the unit who were absolutely fantastic and provided our son with excellent care and support.  I decided at that point that I wanted to do something to give something back! But ouch - did I have to pick a marathon!

The fund will help to support the unit and its staff and will also be used to buy extra equipment.  Please help me to reach my target and support the Baby unit and sponsor me.
