Story

                                    *******UPDATE!*******

I successfully completed the Cycle Cuba Challenge 2009!

Both my team mates - Ged Turner & Christian Petersen - also completed the Challenge. So far we have raised over £6500 between us. I will still be accepting donations until July and I have increased my target from £2150 to £2500 so please sponsor me!

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
A few years ago I cycled around Wales raising money for community projects in Nicaragua. This year I'm part of  a team taking part in the Cycle Cuba Challenge 2009 in aid of the Music Fund For Cuba. Sponsor money raised will help provide much needed arts and music materials for children and young people in Cuba and will benefit them directly.

Supporting Children and Young People in Cuba

Cuba is renowned for its cultural traditions as well as its ongoing support and development for today’s budding artists. Its music, art, and dance are enjoyed by people around the world. But these traditions and the development of future talent are threatened by a lack of basic tools and materials. Violin strings, paper for music scores, ballet shoes, paints and other small but essential items are all in short supply. This sponsored ride will raise money for the Music Fund for Cuba. This registered charity helps provide materials for music and performing arts education. These materials will directly benefit children and young people in Cuba.

Therefore, I'm hoping to raise more than my individual target of £2150 by 9th March 2009.

Here's more details:

- In the heat, humidity and hilly terrain of Cuba, I'll be joining a group of fellow cyclists to complete a 350km ride. This will be physically demanding and require commitment and preparation.

- During our time in Cuba, we will be taking some of the essential educational and musical materials direct to a school in Havana. Musical and educational materials for children and young people are in short supply in Cuba. The main reason for these shortages is that the USA has an economic blockade of Cuba.

- It will be great if you (as an individual or with a group/organisation) would be willing to support this challenge with a donation. I will be part of a team of 3 and your donation can contribute to my fundraising target and that of our team. Each team member has to raise a minimum of £2,150.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It's also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Music Fund For Cuba gets your money faster and, if you're a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

Just click on the 'Sponsor now' button above.

Thanks for your support and sponsorship,

David.
