We're running this half marathon for two main reasons: to celebrate Gappa giving up the cigarettes and to raise money for the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society, as we both have friends and family who are so unfairly afflicted by this progressive inflammatory auto-immune disease, and because I have worked in hospitals where people of all ages are admitted with disabilities and pain that needs extortionately priced medicine to even touch the problem. And at the same time we're doing it to find out who can run the fastest.
