Story

Friday 20th June 2008 will be a night to remember for us all, it was an amazing, emotional, fun filled night where hundreds of women and the wonderful men in our  lives came together for a life changing cause. We walked alongside each other talking, laughing and sometimes even encouraging each other along. It was a beautiful night shared by loved ones for loved ones. There were 45 of us (women and men) walking for DayaFai, we wore flowers in our hair (women and men) to show we were all part of the same team! Hey All!

As most of you are aware, we recently said good bye to Daya Fai (as we know her) as she was suffering for some months from cancer. She was a fighter and was strong and smiling until her last breath, and now we believe it's time to remember her and more importantly say thank you to those who took such good care of her.

Throughtout the time she was ill, she was always in and out of St Luke's Hospice and she died on 2nd December 2007 at the Hospice on Kenton Road. The staff at the hospice were outstanding throughout her illness. They helped her in every way possible and made her last days as comfortable as possible. She continuously said how grateful she was to them all for all they had been doing for her....so now we would like to say thank you on her behalf by taking part in this walk.

We have set up this web page for you to donate money to help St Luke's Hospice in continuing to care for their patients as they did with Daya Fai. The staff here provide a fantastic service to all their patients and families who suffer through this difficult time. Whether it's making the patients comfortable in their rooms or offering you a cup of tea just when you need it! Or in our case by supplying some playing cards to keep us all well occupied and laughing for hours.... as Daya Fai lost many a card game!

Please donate what you can, or come along and join us in the walk or simply support us in our walk for St Luke's Hospice. You can find details of the walk on http://www.stlukes-hospice.org/walkerswebsite/midnight.htm

We know Daya Fai will be walking next to us the whole way...and be supporting us in raising money for the people who helped her throughout her illness. We always miss and think of Daya Fai everyday....and know she will be smiling on us today.
