We fund pioneering research to tackle bowel cancer.

Story

Hello,

In March 2010 I went to South Africa with the Bobby Moore Fund where we renovated a local school and I found the trip to be one of the most rewarding things I have ever done personally whilst also raising money for such a worthwhile cause in Cancer research!

So I'm at it again....this time however I'm off to Namibia on a 10 day trip in June 2011 where the group of fundraiser each need to each raise £4000 and with this money it enables us to work in partnership with the local community to renovate a school whilst raising money for bowel cancer research in the UK!

The Bobby Moore Fund was established by Stephanie Moore MBE in partnership with Cancer Research UK in 1993 after Bobby Moore, who will always be remembered for captaining England to World Cup glory in 1966, tragically died of bowel cancer aged just 51.

Bowel cancer actually accounts for one in eight new cancer cases in the UK and affects both men and women. It is the third most common cause of cancer death after lung and breast which suprised me and it claims around 44 lives each day in the UK, but diagnoised early is most successfully treated. To find out more information go to http://publications.cancerresearchuk.org/WebRoot/crukstoredb/CRUK_PDFs/ED076B.pdf

So what am I going to be doing to get to my fundraising target?? I am going to be running a 10k to raise money along with a number of other events and activites so I'll keep the details updated on this page!

Any money donated is most gratefully received and I hope that you have fun at any of the events you can support!

Finally check out my story in the local Watford Observer at http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/news/8937389.Hornets_fan_travelling_to_Africa/

THANK YOU ALL for you continued support!

Deb xx

P.S The bit I have to include...donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
