Our own Dr Amit Bajracharya from The Southwell Medical Centre has travelled to Nepal to help the victims of this terrible disaster. On his behalf Southwell Medical Users Group is promoting donations to the Disasters Emergency Committee.

Update: Monday 4th May
I have been busy here as expected. To start off with not all my luggage arrived at chaotic Kathmandu airport. Fortunately I got them all the following day. I've been at work since. I have donated stuff I had brought to a couple of hospitals here. The devastation this has caused is beyond imagination. We are still getting after shocks on regular intervals. 8 yesterday and 5 today! of 4 and above Richter scales. Everyone here is scared to death.
We went to a village just outside Kathmandu today called Sallegaun. Despite 9 days since the massive earthquake we were the first team to reach there. All of 80+ houses were destroyed with no casualties. Perhaps that's why they were neglected. All of the families are still living under plastic sheets. The journey through difficult extremely dangerous roads were scary enough with dust and dirt all the way. I was able to give minor medical first aid. Most of the people are still living in a state of shock. It was all rewarding in the end.
We are heading to another village tomorrow outside Kathmandu.
