DJ Karnter – who has played at famous UK venues including Glastonbury, plus a host of venues all around the world – will attempt to set a new Guinness World Record™ for the longest DJ marathon in history this August.
The existing record stands at 88 hours But DJ Karnter intends to smash this by a full 13 hours – taking the record to a new total of 101 hours of live, continuous mixing.
The event is aimed to raise awareness and funds for the The Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy Charity which is the largest music therapy charity in the UK where musical improvisation is used to form a therapeutic relationship with individuals with a wide range of needs and difficulties. Speaking on his reasons for wanting to help this charity in particular, DJ Karnter commented: ‘‘Music has always been very valuable to me, being dyslexic I have never been able to express myself on paper but since being introduced to music as a young child it has acted as a great form of freedom and release to me. So the idea of helping such a charity is very important as I’d like to help others benefit from this medium in the way I have’’.
The event is to take place in the City Arcade, Coventry and shall commence at 7am on 28th August at the renowned DJ Bargains LTD Store which is a fitting location with its state of the art DJ-ing equipment and wide range of vinyls on offer. The Director of the company Matt Green commented: ‘‘We are delighted to be hosting this world record attempt on our premises, it will be a big challenge, but we hope that with DJ Karnter’s determination and the support of the local community he will smash the existing record and also raise lots of money for such a worthy cause.’’
