Dragin T'Ales - The first Mitchells and Butlers Dragon Boat Team
We'd like to say a big thank you to all those that came to support us on the day and those that have sponsored us so far….
It was a fantastic day; the weather stayed fine, Barnardo's raised a huge amount of money we were runners up in the race, out of over 20 teams taking part!
In fact we had the best race times on the day however, due to time restraints and a 'penalty shoot out' style quarter final, we were robbed of the title by just 0.4 of a second.
That didn't dampen our spirits as we went on stage to receive our prize from BRMB, then on to All Bar One to celebrate in style - still in our very attractive fancy dress outfits.
By our own admission the "atmosphere was immense, the banter never stopped and the smiles never ended".
Alex Ford comments: "What a great day. I've not stopped talking about it. What really made it for me was doing it with a really great set of people. I can honestly say I have never laughed so much in my life."
We had a really good laugh but took the canoeing very seriously, as boat racer Shaun Spence explains: "I never thought of doing anything like that in my life and now I would like to take it up professionally."
(Hmmm)
'Dragin T'Ales' captain Carl Wassell said this morning: "....a sterling performance from each and every one of the team. It just shows what great team ethics and a little determination can produce."
Thanks from the team:-
Carl Wassell, Tom Small, Shaun Spence, Danny Whitbread, Sarah McNutt, Carlie Mapp, Matt Howcroft, Gareth Smith, Peter Gallagher, Alex Ford, Barry Chainey, Scott Keeney, Dave Skinner and Richard Hartley.
On behalf of MAB and Barnardo's thanks for visiting our page and supporting this great cause.
