Story
The drive2serve team is taking the racket to Africa plus giving you the chance to win some great prizes at the same time
In August and September the drive2serve team are hitting the road and driving to North West Africa to set up sustainable tennis academies.
Once at the orphanages, the drive2serve team will deliver tennis lessons to the children of the orphanage, as well as educating the staff as to how they can develop the tennis. When we move on from the academies, we will leave tennis nets, balls, rackets and a drive2serve tennis pack so tennis can continue to flourish after we have left. The drive2serve team are also committed to helping out in the orphanages in anyway that is needed, thereofre in addition to taking tennis equipment for the oprhanages, the drive2serve team will also take educational material, pens and paper that have been specifically requested by each orphanage.
The drive2serve team is made up of university students and tennis coaches and they had this to say:
“Having been to Morocco on a charity hitch-hike last year and visiting an orphanage, I know that drive2serve will touch the lives of those we meet and really give the children of the orphanages something to really look forward to.”
“Tennis has given me so much over my life: great friends, passion, determination, dedication and the opportunity to travel the world playing on the world tour. I feel drive2serve is a great way to give something back to the sport and who better to introduce to the sport.”
To help raise money for this cause drive2serve is holding a raffle. For every £5 donated on justgiving or in person, one entry into the raffle will be made, with the draw to take place on the 4th of September. We have been given some great prizes including x1 signed Tim Henman and x2 Serena Williams Merchandise, x1 Slazenger Tennis Racket (RRP £120), x5 Head Tennis Rackets (RRP £49.99), x10 tubes Head ATP Balls (RRP £10), x4 P&G aftershaves (lacoste, Hugo Boss) (RRP £30) x 5 raging bull t-shirts plus a mystery prize to be added. So there are lots of reasons to get donating.
As well as benefiting the orphanages in Morocco we would like to help something closer to home. So for every £1 given, 90p will go towards the drive2serve project and 10p will go towards The Lenton Centre, a fantastic charity that many of us have been helping out at during our time at University
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us. Plus, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Many thanks for your support.
