Story

Hi all,

Well, I managed to complete all three events! I thought I should give you a quick update to let you know how they went:

Asics 10km - 49:40

Dextro Energy Sprint Triathlon - 1:25:24

London Triathlon Olympic distance - 2:40:22

The breakdown and position for the individual segments of the Olympic triathlon can be found below. In the men's Open Olympic I finished 391st out of 1212 entrants. As you can see I can definitely improve on the transitions (need to remember which row I left my shoes in next time!)

1.5km swim - 31:48 (568th)

Transition 1 - 5:09 (823rd)

40km bike - 1:05:23 (185th)

Transition 2 - 3:24 (1020th!)

10km run - 54:41 (444th)

It was a great day and I was lucky to have some fantastic support from family and friends, some of whom travelled a very long way to be there, so thank you for that (you know who you are).

The paparazzi were out in force so photos will be put up shortly. Needless to say I will have to see if there are any which can be actually be used.

Thank you very much to everyone who has generously donated to this great cause. I've been in regular contact with Cure Leukaemia over the past month and they are really thrilled with how much I've raised.

I started off signing up for the London Triathlon to challenge myself and then the focus became about raising as much money as possible. However I've really enjoyed my training and worked hard to complete something that was unimaginable only 6 months ago. For that reason I have decided to sign up to two more events in 2010.

HSBC Olympic Triathlon Dorney Lake - 12th September 2010

Garmin Barcelona Olympic Triathlon - 17th October 2010

My Just Giving page will remain open for a few months should anyone still wish to donate.

Thanks again everyone.

------------------------------------------

Hello all!

Thank you for visiting my page. I've not done this before but thought I really ought to try to raise some money in recognition of the more-active-than-usual Summer I have planned!

I have decided to complete several events this year beginning with the Asics British 10km run in London on Sunday 11th July (completed in 49mins 40 seconds), the Dextro Triathlon 2010 in Hyde Park on Saturday 24th July and the London Triathlon at the Excel Centre on 8th August. While the first two "warm-up" events will still be testing (the Hyde Park tri is sprint distance - 750m swim, 20km cycle, 5km run), the culmination of many months of hard training will be the Olympic distance event at the London Triathlon, comprising a 1.5km open water swim, 40km cycle and 10km run. I aim to complete this in three hours.

My chosen cause is Cure Leukaemia, which supports the Birmingham-based Leukaemia Centre Project at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. This amazing organisation pioneers world class research and develops new treatments for leukaemia patients. My mother, who has Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia, has been the beneficiary of 10 years of fantastic treatment and support from the experts who dedicate much of their time to the Leukaemia Centre. Undoubtedly without the support of this organisation, many of the huge strides taken to advance treatment for sufferers would not have been possible.

It is with great sadness that Mum has recently begun further treatment for her illness. However my family know that she is in excellent hands and that the Leukaemia Centre, supported by Cure Leukaemia, will continue to provide her with the very best support and the latest treatments. For this reason alone I am very determined to succeed in my chosen events and raise as much money as possible for this fantastic cause.

Thanks for taking the time to read this. If you would like to sponsor me, I would be extremely grateful.
